They are the extras that make a PA or voice-alarm amplifier usable on site: remote volume and source plates, VCA cards, Lo-Z to 100V transformers, Dante or Ethernet cards, wall controllers, Bluetooth pairing accessories, splitters and rack kits. They do not replace the amplifier.
Both include wall plates and rack hardware. Amp ancillaries are chosen to match a power amp or mixer-amp (remote level, 100V transformers, amp Dante cards, amp rack ears). Mixer ancillaries match a mixer or matrix (source select, input plates, mixer expanders). Use the plate or card listed for that product family.
It lets staff turn the music down in that room without accessing the rack. Some plates only change level; others also select the source. Typical locations are shops, hotels, gyms and meeting rooms. The amplifier often needs a matching VCA or remote port — a generic 100V speaker volume control will not drive every amp.
A VCA (voltage-controlled amplifier) card is fitted inside selected amplifiers so a wall plate can control level safely. Without the card, the remote plate may have nothing to talk to. Check that the amp, card and plate are from the same control family before you order.
It converts a low-impedance amplifier output into a 100V (high-Z) speaker line. Use one when the amp is Lo-Z only but the building needs long 100V runs. Size the transformer to the amplifier’s wattage per channel and keep the speaker taps within that rating.
A network card lets the amp receive digital audio and/or be controlled over the IT network (Dante, Questra and similar). That simplifies multi-zone routing and remote monitoring. The card is usually model-specific — it is not a generic USB gadget.
Half-width and compact amps often need a dedicated kit to sit safely in a 19-inch rack, sometimes two amps side by side in 1U. Voice-alarm and mixer-amp series also have their own bracket kits. Using the wrong ears can block ventilation or leave the unit without sufficient support.
A digital wall controller can change source, scene or zone level and is aimed at staff. The front-panel knob on the amplifier is for the installer or a locked rack. Limit what the wall panel can do so everyday users cannot take the system off-line.
Only where the manufacturer says so. Cloud remote plates expect Cloud remote ports; TOA and Bose rack kits fit those chassis; LD Systems network cards fit that amplifier series. Audio splitters and generic transformers are more transferable, but control and network parts rarely are.
