AUDIO FOR EDUCATION
AUDIO FOR EDUCATION

A sound system for a school or other education setting, may consist of a centrally located amplifiier with loudspeakers distributed throughout classrooms and corridors for paging, emergency announcements or class change signalling.

Additionally, there may a standalone multi-purpose audio system in the school hall for assemblies, school productions or to address prospective students & parents so clear, intelligible speech is vital in addition to full rich sound to support all kinds of presentations and performances.

In the example below, this medium sized school is lucky enough to have its own swimming pool within the sports facility. Whilst this is unusual, this highlights the many different zones which need addressing appropriately within a school sound system. Sadly, one requirement for education facilities is now a 'school lockdown system' so a suitable Media Player is incorporated into this design. This enables scheduled class change signals as well as the facility to broadcast pre-recorded or ad hoc emergency messages across the school campus as needed.

Of course, an audio system for a University would be on a much bigger scale, but as with any sound reinforcement project, if detailed plans are obtained, a suitable system can always be designed!

Example of a school audio system

Individually, a classroom sound system may utilise a soundfield system enabling localised audio enhancement with a teachers wireless microphone, audio amplifier and speakers. Soundfield improves control in the classroom through more effective communication and reduced vocal fatigue for the teacher.

A portable sound system is ideal for addressing groups of students in learning resource areas or for sporting events. Ideal to move easily from one location to another and lock away securely when not in use.

A lecture theatre in a college or university may need amplification with local control with high quality microphones and powerful speakers as well as being integrated into the Campus Paging System. Assistive listening for the hearing impaired can be provided by low spill induction loop systems which can be installed in adjacent rooms -  a dual phase loop amp with an overlapping loop circuit layout prevents the signal extending beyond the desired space.
