In the past we had VHS or Betamax tapes to record and play back video. We progressed onto disc formats and today we have a number of technologies available to us. We still have video players which handle traditional recorded media on DVD or Blu-Ray discs but also have the option of digital media such as USB drives, SD cards or built in memory.
Using digital media gives us increased capacity over discs, with information being held in files which are quick and easy to access on demand. With 4K High Definition, images are bold and clear. Ideal for museum exhibits, advertising displays or interactive maps.
Playback of files can be scheduled to play at certain times or set to repeat throughout the day – ideal for in-store advertising
Interactive media players take this further by having multiple input contacts which can be used to activate playback on demand via external buttons, infra-red sensors or other relay switches. Furthermore, output contacts enable the unit to trigger external events upon playback such as dimming lights, playing a sound effect or activating digital signage.
Integration into a network enables these digital media players to be incorporated into a wider system operating with DMX or ArtNet protocols.
