Traditional PAR lights used a lamp with a ‘Parabolic Aluminised Reflector’ which focussed the light into a tight beam. This concentrated bright beam made them ideal for stage lighting, photography and film production.

However, modern LED PAR lights, such as the Cameo ROOT PAR series, have a multitude of benefits over incandescent bulbs.

Energy efficiency tops the bill, closely followed heat reduction. Whilst old PAR cans generated lots of heat, new LED PAR style lamps use a fraction of the energy and produce very little heat making them far safer and more comfortable for performers. LED’s typically have a much longer lifespan too, saving money and reducing waste.

LED lamps can also create millions of colours – ideal for dramatic effect and creative décor.

Used indoors, the tight beam of PAR lights makes them ideal for highlighting individual performers and creating spectacular effects. Outdoor PAR lights (check the IP rating) are great for uplighting architectural features, trees and statues.
