Merry Christmas to you all. Is it just me or does it seem to come around quicker every year? On behalf of my team, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your support this year. As the year comes to an end, there is just enough time to share with you some final news and products, before we head off to enjoy mince pies, turkey and mulled wine.
Have a good one all and hopefully, we will see you next year.
Regards Brian. Managing Director

systems to be controlled via touch screen panels located throughout the installation. The training session covered networking, design and management of systems, and interface design. We are delighted that all of our technical sales team that attended (Steve, Neal, Marc & Matt) are now fully Questra certified. If you would like to know more about this innovative and exciting product, please don't hesitate to contact us for more information.

Speaker Impedance & Power
Experience is great and after many years you probably have a good idea of what is going to work and what will not. Sometimes however, we need to be more precise or be able to prove our designs. Here are a couple of formulas that help us do just that.
100V Line speakers make installation easy, daisy chain them and add up the wattage of all the speakers and that's the amplifier size you need.
Sometimes however, we need to fault find a speaker line or know the total wattage of a circuit when we don't know how many speakers there are or what they are tapped at. Using an impedance meter, (a multi-meter will give resistance, not impedance), measure the speaker circuit and use the resulting measurement in the formula below:
10,000 ÷ Impedance (Z) = Total Power (P)
Alternatively, if you know the speaker wattage you can use this formula to check the measured impedance is correct.
10,000 ÷ Total Power (P) = Impedance (Z)
Calculating impedance of low impedance speakers depends on if they are connected in series or parallel:
If speakers are connected in SERIES
Impedance = SPK1 + SPK2 + SPK3
8𝛀 + 8𝛀 + 8𝛀 = 24𝛀
If the speakers are connected in PARALLEL, then calculating the impedance requires a slightly different formula.
Impedance = 1 ÷ (1 + SPK1) + (1 + SPK2) + (1 + SPK3)
1 ÷ (1 + 8) + (1 + 8 + (1 + 8) = 2.66𝛀
Shortcut : If in parallel & all speakers are the same, take the speaker impedance and divide it by the quantity.
3 x 8𝛀 speakers in parallel : 8𝛀 ÷ 3 = 2.66𝛀
