We’ve recently completed this rack build for one of our overseas AV integration customers, which allows for 10 zones of public address paging, background music and digital message playback.

The system is based on two TOA VM2240 5-zone mixer amplifiers. The TOA VM-2240 sound management amplifier is rated at 240 Watts RMS and is ideal for handling all public address functions across five zones in a medium sized building. By combining two VM2240’s configured in Master/Sub mode, this is extended to 10 Zones. The amps have been mounted into the rack using the optional MB-36 rack mount brackets. The rack is a 20U Lande 19” equipment rack (PR20U6060). The amps are convection cooled so by spacing the equipment out and filling spaces with vent panels we provided plenty of airflow to keep everything ventilated. The top panel of the rack also features circular ventilation areas to further help with this. (These can be punched out if required and rack fans fitted, but this wasn’t necessary in this case.) |
Background music is provided by the LD Systems RSMP universal media player, which not only provides Bluetooth playback but also offers an FM, DAB and DAB+ tuner, internet radio, Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer streaming as well as a USB media player for playing MP3 files via a USB stick. A single TOA A-3548D mixer amplifier routes the background music through the VM-2240 amplifiers to allow for uninterrupted music playback even whilst a paging announcement is made into a another zone. The Microplayer digital message player from Waves System also provides a global alert message which can be activated from the control system of the building. Paging announcements can be made to any zone from the TOA RM-200MS 10 zone paging microphone station. |
